The 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL is truly an iconic vehicle. The SL-Class is a Mercedes-Benz grand tourer sports car roadster that has been a mainstay of the manufacturer since 1954. The SL is derived from the company’s native German and stands for Super-Leicht – super light in English. The model we had the pleasure of working on was the last year of production for the third generation model, spanning from 1971 up until 1989. Interestingly enough, the 560 SL model featuring the 5.5-liter engine was only available in the US, Canada, Japan, and Australia due to emission regulations at the time
